Prime Video Kills Spider-Noir After One Season Despite Strong Reviews

Nicolas Cage's Spider-Noir is done at Prime Video after a single season, even though the show landed hard with audiences. The 1930s noir detective series, which dropped all eight episodes in May 2026, pulled 2.6 billion viewing minutes in its first six weeks and earned a 92% favorability rating on Rotten Tomatoes — the kind of numbers that usually signal a renewal.

But streaming math doesn't always track with critical or fan reception, and Amazon MGM's decision to cancel stands. Cage played Ben Reilly, a private investigator with spider-like abilities navigating a black-and-white (or color, if you preferred) version of Depression-era New York. The show found its audience fast, which makes the cancellation sting a bit harder for the people who were waiting on that second season.

The silver lining: Marvel content at Prime Video isn't dead. Amazon MGM and Sony Pictures Television have a deal in place, and more Marvel projects are reportedly in development.
