Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have announced that the first part of the Expansion Pass for Pokémon Pokopia will launch on August 5, bringing with it a substantial underwater expansion called Bubbly Basin. The announcement came by way of a new trailer that previewed what players can expect when the DLC arrives.

The Bubbly Basin DLC introduces an underwater town to explore, along with a collection of water-type and water-adjacent Pokémon new to the game. Among them are Manaphy, Popplio, Mudkip, Chinchou, Lanturn, Buizel, Corphish, Totodile, Dhelmise, Golisopod, Corsala, Frillish, Lumineon, and Sharpedo. The trailer also showcased new abilities that these creatures will bring to the experience.

The expansion is part of a larger plan for the game's post-launch content. A free update will also roll out on the same day, and the second part of the Expansion Pass will introduce accessories—a feature that hasn't been available in the base game since its launch on March 5 for Nintendo Switch 2.

Pokémon Pokopia was developed by Koei Tecmo and originally released as a Game-Key Card exclusive. The title represents a different kind of Pokémon experience from what fans might be used to, and the Expansion Pass seems designed to deepen that experience with new environments and creatures to discover. If you've been playing since launch, August 5 gives you a solid reason to return.
