Onimusha Gets a Free Prequel Webcomic on Webtoon

Capcom's expanding the Onimusha universe beyond the game itself. A new prequel webcomic called Fated Rivalry has launched on Webtoon as a companion to the upcoming Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and it's available to read for free.

The series follows Sasaki Ganryu, a historical rival of the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, and explores the story leading into the new game. The first chapter went live last Saturday and has already drawn over 20,000 clicks—a solid start for what looks like an earnest attempt to deepen the game's world through a different medium.

Fated Rivalry is produced by Laurel Pursuit and features creative work from Webtoon creators jjolee, hilluhri, and BAEKSSE. New chapters are scheduled to release every Saturday, so there's a rhythm to follow if the opening hooks you.
