Nintendo Direct September 2026: Switch 2 Gets Metroid, Kirby, and More

Nintendo's September Direct brought a solid lineup of announcements for the Switch 2, mixing beloved franchises with some fresh arrivals to the platform.

The standout reveal was Metroid Ravenous, a new 2D entry in the series that's headed to Switch 2 on January 28, 2027. It's good to see Nintendo continuing to invest in the side-scrolling side of Metroid — there's something timeless about that formula, and it sounds like they're ready to show what it can do on the new hardware.

Kirby fans have reason to celebrate too. Kirby and the World Beyond is coming to Switch 2 in spring 2027, though details on what makes this one special remain light for now.

On the RPG front, Nintendo confirmed that both Persona 4 Revival and Persona 6 are heading to Switch 2, which is a meaningful get for the platform. The Persona series has found a real home on Nintendo hardware in recent years, and having both a revival and a new mainline entry available signals confidence in that audience.

Danganronpa 2x2 will launch on January 14, 2027, for Switch 2 as well, giving mystery-adventure fans another option early in the year.
