MAPPA's Next Anime: Beat & Motion Heads to Netflix in 2027
MAPPA's anime adaptation of Beat & Motion will stream globally on Netflix in 2027.
MAPPA has officially announced its adaptation of Beat & Motion, an anime that will premiere globally on Netflix in 2027. The project brings together a seasoned creative team led by director Yuki Komada, with Misaki Morie penning the script and Kazunori Aoki handling character design and animation direction.
The story centers on Tatsuhiko, a man whose passion for animation reignites after a chance encounter with an intriguing girl at a party. It's a premise rooted in creative rekindling—fitting for a studio known for ambitious character-driven narratives.
Voice acting duties fall to Shūichirō Umeda as Tatsuhiko and Aya Gomazuru as Nico, the mysterious girl who sets the story in motion. Beat & Motion itself has history: the property originated from Million Tag, a 2021 competition on Shōnen Jump+ where creator Naoki Fujita took the crown.
The 2027 release window positions this as a significant project for MAPPA's slate, particularly given Netflix's global reach. The studio has built considerable momentum adapting original properties and manga into high-profile anime, and this marks another calculated move into the streaming ecosystem.
