After decades of anime fandom and countless fan castings debated across the internet, Naruto is finally getting the Hollywood live-action treatment—and Lionsgate is casting wide to find its Team 7.

Lionsgate has launched a global casting search for the three lead roles: Naruto Uzumaki, the determined ninja with a hidden demon fox inside him; Sasuke Uchiha, the brooding rival with a vendetta; and Sakura Haruno, the sharp-minded kunoichi caught between them. Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is directing the film.

This marks the first live-action adaptation of Masashi Kishimoto's manga, which spawned one of anime's most enduring franchises. Kishimoto himself has thrown his weight behind the project, expressing genuine excitement about both the film and Cretton's involvement—a signal that this isn't a cynical cash grab but something the creator is invested in seeing done right.

The worldwide casting call is a smart move. Finding actors who can embody these iconic characters while appealing to both longtime manga readers and mainstream audiences is no small task. The chemistry between the three leads will make or break the film; their dynamic is the emotional core of the entire series.

Whether this adaptation succeeds where so many anime-to-live-action projects have stumbled remains to be seen. But with Cretton at the helm and Kishimoto's blessing, there's at least reason to think someone's taking this seriously.
