Kyoto Animation is diving into alternate history with 20th Century Electric Catalog - Eureka Evrika, a new anime that premiered July 5, 2026. Based on Hiroshi Yuki's light novel, the series transports viewers to a reimagined early 20th century Kyoto where steam-powered technology and wonder collide.

Directed by Minoru Ota, the show follows a boy and girl navigating this electrified world in its opening episode, titled "Electric Boy." It's the kind of premise that plays to Kyoto Animation's strengths—intimate character dynamics set against richly detailed, fantastical backdrops.

The anime is spreading across multiple platforms. Viewers in Japan can catch it on ABC TV, TOKYO MX, TV Aichi, and BS11, while Netflix holds the exclusive streaming rights globally. That dual-track release strategy suggests the studio and its partners are betting on both traditional broadcast audiences and the international streaming crowd.
