Hell Teacher Nube Returns Free on YouTube for 30th Anniversary

A supernatural classic is getting a second life. Starting July 20, Hell Teacher Nube, the 1996 anime adaptation that introduced audiences to one of anime's most unconventional educators, will stream for free on Toei Animation's YouTube channel as part of its 30th anniversary celebration.

The series follows Meisuke Nueno, a spiritual teacher tasked with an unusual mandate: protecting his students from the supernatural threats that plague their school. Rather than chalk and textbooks, his classroom arsenal includes exorcisms and encounters with otherworldly phenomena—a premise that set the anime apart in the mid-90s anime landscape.

The anime draws from the manga created by Sho Makura and Takeshi Okano, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1993 to 1999. That seven-year serialization built a dedicated fanbase, and the anime adaptation became a memorable entry in the magazine's adaptations during that era. Now, three decades after the anime's debut, Toei Animation is making the series accessible to both longtime fans and newcomers curious about a quirky piece of 90s anime history.
