Free Play Days: MW4 Beta, Control, and Fatal Fury

This weekend's Free Play Days on Xbox brings a solid mix of action across a few different flavours — something for everyone, really.

If you're on Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or Essential, you've got until August 30 to jump into Naruto To Boruto: Shinobi Striker and ARK: Survival Ascended. Both are worth a proper look if you haven't spent time with them yet.

Meanwhile, Control Ultimate Edition and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves are free for all Xbox members through the same window, so no Game Pass required. That's a nice gesture — Control in particular is a stylish, inventive action game that's worth experiencing if it's passed you by.

The headline event, though, is the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta, which kicks off August 28 at 10 AM PT and runs through September 1 at 10 AM PT. If you've been curious about where the series is headed, this is your chance to get hands-on before launch without any commitment.

It's a generous window to try things out — four days gives you real time to sit with these games and figure out what sticks. Whether you're after competitive multiplayer, survival sandbox chaos, supernatural action, or fighting game fundamentals, there's something here to scratch that itch.
