The Apothecary Diaries Lifts OLM Studio Profits 37% to 521M Yen
The Apothecary Diaries anime boosted OLM Studio's profits by 37% to 521M yen.
OLM Studio's net profit jumped 37.2% to 521 million yen for the fiscal year ending in March 2026, with The Apothecary Diaries anime adaptation driving the bulk of the gains. The studio, part of the IMAGICA GROUP corporation, has seen its global profile rise significantly on the back of the series' success.
The spike is substantial enough to matter in an industry where anime studios typically operate on thin margins. The Apothecary Diaries, which centers on the character Maomao and her work as a poison expert in a historical fantasy setting, clearly resonated with audiences worldwide—enough to move the needle on OLM's bottom line in a meaningful way.
During the same fiscal period, OLM also worked on Himitsu no Aipri, Knight of the Living Cat, and Tsuihousha Shokudo e Youkoso!, but none of those projects appear to have contributed to the profit increase at the scale that The Apothecary Diaries did. The disparity underscores how dependent anime studios remain on individual hit properties to sustain growth.
For OLM, the takeaway is straightforward: one successful adaptation can reshape a studio's financial trajectory and international standing in a single fiscal year.
