Aikatsu Stars! Returns With New Film in Spring 2027

The Aikatsu Stars! franchise is making a comeback. A new anime film titled Aikatsu Stars! Hoshihoshi no Progress will hit theaters in early spring 2027, reuniting the creative team behind the original series.

Director Tetsuo Sato and scriptwriter Yuko Kakihara are returning to helm the project, alongside character designer Yukiko Aikei. The announcement landed during a 10th-anniversary revival screening of the Aikatsu Stars! movie, a fitting moment to reveal what's next for the idol-focused franchise.

The timing suggests the studio is capitalizing on renewed interest in the series. A decade-long gap between the original film and this new project is substantial, but the decision to bring back the core creative voices signals confidence that the original team can deliver something fans will recognize and embrace.
