Sword Art Online's Echoes of Aincrad Gets Genesis Maidens DLC This Winter

Bandai Namco Entertainment has dropped a trailer for the Genesis Maidens DLC for Echoes of Aincrad, the Sword Art Online game that launched across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in July. The DLC arrives this winter and features Mito, a character from the Sword Art Online: Progressive films, alongside new storylines and features.

The base game itself hit Japan on July 9 and the West on July 10, arriving in four editions: Standard, Deluxe, Ultimate, and Aincrad Edition, each with escalating content offerings. Echoes of Aincrad is the franchise's latest stab at translating Reki Kawahara's virtual-reality MMORPG premise into playable form, and the Genesis Maidens expansion signals Bandai Namco's commitment to keeping the game fed with fresh material.

Mito's inclusion ties the DLC directly to the Progressive film continuity, which has been expanding the SAO universe with deeper dives into the early floors of Aincrad.
