God of War Laufey launches February 2027

Sony Santa Monica has confirmed that God of War Laufey will arrive on February 16, 2027, with the announcement coming during San Diego Comic-Con 2026. The game will release on disc—a notable detail given that Sony has signalled its intention to wind down PlayStation disc production by 2028, making this one of the platform's later physical releases.
Director Cory Barlog has also revealed that a new Kratos-led God of War game will follow Laufey, with the two titles forming a connected narrative arc. This suggests the studio is thinking in terms of a larger story spanning multiple entries, rather than treating Laufey as a standalone chapter.
The announcement has drawn mixed reactions so far, though the specifics of what players are responding to remain to be seen as more details emerge in the lead-up to launch.
