First Look at Iconic Characters

A glimpse into the much-anticipated The Legend of Zelda live-action movie has emerged, presenting Link, played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, and Princess Zelda, portrayed by Bo Bragason. Also featured is Dichen Lachman from Severance, who plays a mysterious role.

Production Details

Filming has commenced in New Zealand, and early footage showcases the leads in action. Fans are buzzing with theories about Lachman's character, with many speculating she may take on the role of Impa, Zelda's loyal protector.

Character Revelations

Earlier, cropped images of Ainsworth and Bragason provided a sneak peek, but fans can now see a more complete view of their characters. Notably, Princess Zelda retains her iconic pointed ears, a detail many fans were anxious about. Additionally, Ainsworth's hairstyle now closely resembles the beloved game depiction of Link.

Movie Background

The Legend of Zelda, created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, has been a beloved title since its debut in 1986. It narrates the adventures of Link as he embarks on a quest to save Princess Zelda and the Kingdom of Hyrule from the evil Ganon.

After the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed over $1.3 billion globally, Nintendo began the journey toward this adaptation in collaboration with Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment.

First announced in November 2023, the project is produced by esteemed figures including Miyamoto and Avi Arad (The Amazing Spider-Man), with distribution by Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The screenplay is penned by Derek Connolly, noted for his work on Jurassic World, with direction entrusted to Wes Ball, known for leading the Planet of the Apes franchise.
