'You're Under Arrest' Anime Celebrates with HD Remaster

The beloved dynamic duo from the Bokuto Traffic Police, Natsumi and Miyuki, is making a stunning return with unprecedented image quality. On January 28, a Blu-ray release of the OVAs for You're Under Arrest (Taiho Shichauzo) marked the first HD telecine treatment of this classic series, featuring a new master for enhanced viewing.

Blu-ray Release Details

This special limited edition compiles episodes FILE.1 to FILE.4, originally produced in 1994. The remastering process has breathed new life into this 30-year-old animation, offering vivid colors and a resolution that rivals today’s digital high definition.

Special Features

In addition to improved visuals, the Blu-ray includes valuable bonus material for avid collectors. Notable extras feature a recorded talk from the 30th anniversary event of the anime, held in March 2025, featuring original voice actors:

• Sakiko Tamagawa (voice of Natsumi Tsujimoto)
• Akiko Hiramatsu (voice of Miyuki Kobayakawa)

Also included is a booklet with new interviews and discussions between the original creator, Kosuke Fujishima, and key production staff.

About You're Under Arrest

The You're Under Arrest franchise originated as a manga by Kosuke Fujishima in 1986, serialized in Kodansha magazines. The action-comedy story follows impulsive officer Natsumi and skilled Miyuki as they form a formidable pair in the Bokuto Traffic Division. The anime adaptation began with these OVAs in 1994 and was followed by a successful TV series in 1996, as well as specials and sequels extending to 2007. The main cast also features veterans such as Bin Shimada (Ken Nakajima) and Etsuko Kozakura (Yoriko Nikaido).
