New Light Anime Adaptation of 'You Don't Know Gunma Yet'
Publishing and anime production company IMAGICA Infos announced on Tuesday the upcoming release of a new "light anime" adaptation of the popular manga Omae wa Mada Gunma o Shiranai (You Don't Know Gunma Yet). This new version, titled Omae wa Mada Gunma o Shiranai Reiwa-ban (You Don't Know Gunma Yet ~Reiwa Version~), is slated to premiere in January 2026 on SKY PerfecTV!'s Tetsudō Channel.
About the Manga
The original comedy manga, written by Hiroto Ida, follows the story of Nori Kamitsuki, who relocates from Chiba Prefecture to a fictionalized Gunma Prefecture, northwest of Tokyo. Initially, he perceives Gunma as having a fearsome reputation, but upon his arrival, he discovers the locals' strong affection for their culture.
Ida launched the manga on Shinchosha's Kurage Bunch website in October 2013, concluding it in May 2019, with a total of 11 compiled volumes published. Additionally, the manga inspired a 12-episode series of anime shorts that aired in April 2018, which was streamed by Crunchyroll.
What is 'Light Anime'?
The term "light anime" refers to a new concept by DNP aimed at producing animation at a lower cost on a more timely schedule compared to traditional workflows. Through its Balloon label, the company plans to release four new titles in the 2026 fiscal year, with a long-term goal of producing 10 or more projects annually by 2028.
Conclusion
Anime fans can look forward to this fresh adaptation of You Don't Know Gunma Yet, highlighting the unique aspects of Gunma's culture while continuing the legacy of the beloved manga.
