What to Expect in the Sequel

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, the sequel takes significant inspiration from the beloved Nintendo game, Super Mario Galaxy, first released in 2007. The trailer showcases Mario, voiced by Chris Pratt, exploring a variety of vibrant galaxies filled with colorful chaos and familiar adversaries. Notably, the trailer showcases Yoshi, who was previously teased in the post-credit scene of the first film. This glimpse offers fans their first look at the iconic green dinosaur in action, amplifying the film's excitement.

The familiar voice cast returns, including:

  • Charlie Day as Luigi

  • Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach

New voices include:

Box Office Success

The original Super Mario Bros. Movie achieved immense success, grossing approximately $1.36 billion worldwide, making it the first video game film to surpass the billion-dollar mark. Its box office performance also secured its position as the highest-grossing video game adaptation ever and currently ranks as the 19th highest-grossing movie.

With Yoshi now part of the adventure and the Galaxy setting fully unleashed, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is poised to outdo its predecessor.
