Ghibli Park Drawing Lessons

Ghibli Park has announced that renowned art director Yōji Takeshige, known for his work on classics such as Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, will hold drawing lessons during the park's annual Haru no Dondoko Matsuri (Spring Dondoko Festival). Alongside watercolor painter Shigeari Nomura, Takeshige will guide participants on how to capture the enchanting landscapes of the park.

Event Details

The drawing lessons are scheduled for April 11 and 12 and are open to high school students and older. Participants do not need to have a Ghibli Park ticket to apply for the lessons.

Applications will be conducted via a random drawing from February 25 to March 1, with winners announced on March 6.

Additional Festival Activities

The festival will feature a variety of other exciting activities:

  • March 14-15: Marching band performances at the Valley of Witches.
  • March 21-22: Nature field work and pottery classes in Mononoke Village.
  • March 28-29: Traditional shibori-zome (tie-dyeing) experience in Mononoke Village.
  • March 31: Screening of Hayao Miyazaki's Boro the Caterpillar, followed by observations of insects and flora at Ghibli's Grand Warehouse.
  • April 4-5: Mini-broom making at the Valley of Witches.
  • Live performances by artists including Kazumi Nikaidō, Ann Sally, and TENDRE at various locations in the park.

Additionally, a stamp rally will run from March 14 to April 24, allowing guests to explore different sections of the park.
