The team behind the live-action adaptation of Satoru Nii's 'Wind Breaker' has unveiled a captivating "Concept Art to Movie" video, demonstrating how concept illustrations evolve into engaging 3D sets. Filming took place on location in the scenic town of Kin, Okinawa, from February to April. The crew utilized a local shopping avenue, transforming it into a vibrant set by dressing each shop and even painting their exteriors with the owners' consent.

Among the iconic structures recreated, the entrance arch of the shopping avenue was constructed and secured into the ground, enhancing the film's authentic feel. The project has also shared new concept art along with stills from the movie, building anticipation ahead of its December 5 premiere in Japan.

The film features an impressive cast, including:

  • Kōshi Mizukami as Haruka Sakura
  • Taisei Kido as Akihiko Nirei
  • Keito Tsuna as Hayato Suō
  • JUNON as Kyōtarō Sugishita
  • Motoki Nakazawa as Tōma Hiragi
  • Shūhei Uesugi as Hajime Umemiya
  • Rikako Yagi as Kotoha Tachibana
  • Kōki Yamashita as Chōji Tomiyama
  • Noritaka Hamao as Jō Togame

Directed by Kentarō Hagiwara, known for works like 'Blue Period' and 'Tokyo Ghoul', the adaptation is scripted by acclaimed writer Yōsuke Masaike, who won a Japan Academy Prize. Warner Brothers holds the distribution rights.

Fans can explore the roots of 'Wind Breaker' through its manga, licensed by Kodansha USA Publishing, which began digital releases in English in 2022 and now prints new volumes monthly. The story revolves around Haruka Sakura, a new student at Furin High School, renowned for its delinquent characters who protect their town. Depicting a blend of action and heroism, 'Wind Breaker' is perfect for enthusiasts of high school delinquent narratives.

For even more excitement, the series saw its anime adaptation's first season launch in April 2024, streamed on Crunchyroll, alongside its engaging second season starting April 4.
