Exciting News: The Villager of Level 999 Anime Adaptation Set for 2026 Premiere
The beloved light novel series The Villager of Level 999 is officially getting an anime adaptation, with plans for a premiere in 2026. This announcement by Kadokawa marks a significant moment for fans of the series, which has captivated audiences since its debut.
Koneko Hoshitsuki’s light novel series, also known in Japan as Level 999 no Murabito, is gearing up for its anime transition, thanks to Kadokawa's recent announcement. The adaptation is anticipated to debut in 2026, and initial details regarding the staff and cast have been disclosed. Leading the project is director Yoshinobu Kasai, known for his work on Aru Asa Dummy Head Mike ni Natteita Ore-kun no Jinsei. The series composition is managed by Shinzo Fujita, recognized for his role in To Your Eternity, while character design duties fall to Kentaro Matsumoto, renowned for his work on In/Spectre. Additionally, Hiroshi Nakamura will be composing music for this Brains Base production.
The primary cast is noteworthy, featuring Satoshi Inomata as Koji Kagami, the protagonist, alongside Nao Toyama, who lends her voice to Alice, the daughter of the demon lord. The story unfolds in the fantasy world of Earthqualia, where Koji, at level 999, navigates life despite being born into the traditionally weak “villager” class. The narrative deepens when he encounters Alice, and together, they embark on a quest to foster coexistence between humans and demons.
Originally launched on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in July 2015, the series reached its conclusion in December 2018, with the final print volume released in January 2019. A manga adaptation by Kenichi Iwamoto further expanded its audience, contributing to the series’ popularity.
