At the recent Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase, One More Level introduced Valor Mortis, promising an immersive experience that combines first-person parkour with Metroidvania elements in a grim rendition of 19th-century Europe ravaged by war and plague. Players will step into the boots of William, a resurrected French soldier, who must navigate a nightmarish world tainted by a corrupt substance known as Nephtoglobin, transforming individuals into grotesque mutants.

The game's design emphasizes "brutal, methodical combat," as well as a compelling narrative filled with themes of horror, corruption, and conspiracy. The gameplay, as suggested in the reveal trailer, mirrors the iconic styles of BioShock and Bloodborne, featuring first-person shooting and Plasmid-like abilities termed Transmutations. One More Level CEO Szymon Bryla expressed that while the studio has grown since their earlier projects, they remain committed to creating demanding games for hardcore players.

Valor Mortis is set to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X in 2026, with a demo available to play at Gamescom 2025. Given the unique blend of mechanics and aesthetic, this title is sure to attract attention in the gaming community.
