The highly anticipated anime adaptation of the light novel series Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court has unveiled new character artwork featuring the protagonists, Kou Reirin and Shu Keigetsu, as they navigate their body swap predicament.

Originally published on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in July 2020, the series, written by Satsuki Nakamura and illustrated by YukiKana, has captivated readers with its blend of fantasy and romantic drama. The light novels have enjoyed significant success, with Ichijinsha releasing ten volumes in Japan since December 2020, alongside a manga adaptation by Ei Ohitsuji debuting in June 2021.

Set in the Kingdom of Ei, the story centers around frail "court butterfly" Kou Reirin, who finds her life turned upside down when jealous "court rat" Shu Keigetsu steals her body, leading to a series of unexpected and dire challenges. While the anime's release date is yet to be announced, fans are eagerly awaiting further developments on this exciting new series.
