Pony Canyon has just released the first seven minutes of The Last Blossom (Housenka), an original anime film directed by Baku Kinoshita and written by Kazuya Konomoto. The opening footage features the theme song "Moving Still Life" by the band cero.

Set to premiere in Japan on October 10, this film was showcased at this year's Annecy International Animation Film Festival and was previously part of the Work in Progress lineup at the festival last year.

The film centers around Akutsu, an elderly inmate nearing the end of his life, who reflects on his past after a talking Housenka flower comments on his troubled life. This unique narrative spans from the summer of 1986 to autumn 2023.

The voice cast includes:

  • Kaoru Kobayashi and Junki Tozuka as Minoru Akutsu (both past and present),
  • Hikari Mitsushima and Yoshiko Miyazaki as Nana Nagata (his partner at different life stages),
  • Pierre Taki voicing the talking flower.

Supporting cast members are:

  • Hideaki Murata as Hayashida,
  • Hiroki Yasumoto as Tsutsumi,
  • Sōma Saitō as Wakamatsu,
  • Kōta Nakayama as Konishi.

Don’t miss the opportunity to watch this intriguing start of The Last Blossom before it hits Japanese theaters!
