Major Changes in the DC Universe

In March 2026, the DC Universe will witness significant transformations with the launch of the "Reign of the Superboys" saga. This new storyline will see Superboy Prime stepping into the role of Superman, following Kal-El's mysterious absence.

New Storylines to Explore

DC Comics has enjoyed success in recent years, and they aim to build on this momentum with the introduction of several new titles as part of the "DC: Next Level" initiative. The upcoming saga will span across four ongoing Superman Family series, beginning with Action Comics #1096 on March 11.

  • Action Comics #1096: This issue, penned by Mark Waid and illustrated by Skylar Patridge, features a time-meeting between young Clark Kent, the original Superboy, and the present-day Justice League Unlimited. The storyline explores Superman's beginnings while searching for the absent hero.

  • Supergirl #11: In this edition by Sophie Campbell, Kara faces challenges in the bottled city of Kandor. Here, she loses her powers but gains a cybernetic upgrade, partnering with Conner Kent (Superboy) and a legion of Boy Thunder clones to spearhead a revolt.

  • Superman Unlimited #11: Dan Slott and Lucas Meyer unveil Jon Kent confronting a daunting time-bending enemy along with the introduction of Tomorrow Man, a character who will significantly impact DC's timeline.

  • Superman #36: The saga culminates with Superboy Prime stepping into the spotlight, a move that redefines Metropolis's legacy, penned by Joshua Williamson and illustrated by Dan Mora.

Iconic Character Background

Originally from a reality where heroes were merely fictional, Superboy Prime has been integral to pivotal DC stories, including Crisis on Infinite Earths and the Sinestro Corps War. His rise to prominence signals a bold new direction for Superman's legacy.

Additional Story Arcs Coming in March

In addition to the Superboy saga, DC Comics is set to launch the anticipated Wonder War storyline in Wonder Woman #31, where Diana Prince and her daughter Trinity will face off against Matriarch in a narrative set two decades ahead in a world without the Justice League.

Other titles include Matt Fraction's ongoing Batman series, featuring the return of The Joker amid conflict between the Bat-Family and new Gotham leaders. Green Lantern #33/#600 will also debut, exploring challenges faced by Hal Jordan and the return of Kyle Rayner to Earth.

Writer Scott Snyder noted, "From the launch of the DC All In Special to the introduction of an Absolute Universe, we’re committed to taking bold steps in 2026."
