Scheduled for theatrical release on May 28, 2027, Starfighter takes place after the events of 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This film promises to explore a largely uncharted territory within the Star Wars universe, focusing mostly on new characters while allowing for some familiar faces to make possible appearances.

Star actor Ryan Gosling leads a diverse cast that includes Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams. Levy has expressed his gratitude for the creative freedom afforded to him during the production. He mentioned that Lucasfilm has encouraged him to prioritize originality over established characters, stating:

“There is no mandate or interference [from Lucasfilm] other than the constant encouragement, ‘Make this new.’”
