Spice & Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf - Season 2 Updates

The highly anticipated second season of Spice & Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf has officially revealed its visual and staff details. The production team returns with familiar faces in notable roles.

Returning Staff and Visuals

Takeo Takahashi continues his role as chief director, alongside Hijiri Sanpei, who directed the first season. The directing team for the second season includes Nobuyoshi Nagayama and Takahiro Majima, both bringing their expertise from previous projects. The beloved character designer Koji Haneda is back to craft the characters' look, alongside Rina Sugimoto. Kevin Penkin will once again compose the music, known for his work on Made in Abyss and The Rising of The Shield Hero.

Premiere Details

The series is set to debut in April 2024 and will air for two consecutive cours, available for streaming on Crunchyroll where the English dub will accompany it. This new installment brings back the beloved characters Kraft Lawrence, portrayed by Jun Fukuyama, and Holo, voiced by Ami Koshimizu, with Mai Nakahara returning as Norah Arendt.

Story Synopsis

Set in a fantastical world, the series follows Kraft Lawrence, a traveling merchant, whose routine life changes dramatically upon meeting Holo, a wolf goddess in human form. Together, they navigate the complexities of trade and companionship, leading to unexpected challenges and adventures.

Isuna Hasekura's original novel series, illustrated by Jū Ayakura, began in 2006 and has seen multiple releases, including a recent 24th volume in January 2023. Yen Press publishes the novels and manga adaptation in English, contributing to the series’ enduring popularity.

Previous Adaptations

The Spice & Wolf franchise previously inspired two anime seasons, which aired from 2008 to 2009, and a virtual reality adaptation launched in 2019. The ongoing interest showcases Spice & Wolf's unique blend of adventure and economics in storytelling.
