New Trailer Unveiled for Sousou no Frieren Season 2

The journey towards Ende continues with fresh music and renewed direction. TOHO Animation has released the main promotional video for the second season of the anime adaptation of Sousou no Frieren. This season will feature the band Mrs. GREEN APPLE performing the opening theme titled "lulu".

Season Premiere and Cast Updates

The trailer confirms that the series will premiere on January 16, airing during NTV's "Friday Anime Night". It will also be available for international streaming through Crunchyroll. Additionally, notable cast news includes Kazuhiko Inoue joining to voice the legendary Hero of the South.

Creative Team Changes

Though Madhouse is back for animation and Evan Call will reprise his role as the composer, significant shifts in the creative leadership are noteworthy:

  • Director: Tomoya Kitagawa has taken over as the principal director, succeeding Keiichirō Saitō, who now serves in a supporting role.
  • Character Design: A new team, including Takasemaru (known for Violet Evergarden), Keisuke Kojima, and Yuri Fujinaka, will handle character design.
  • Ending Theme: The singer milet returns to the franchise to perform the ending theme, "The Story of Us".

About the Manga

The original manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe has been on an indefinite hiatus since October 2025 due to the authors' health concerns, yet maintains immense popularity with over 30 million copies in circulation. The story follows the elf mage Frieren, who, after defeating the Demon King, embarks on a journey of self-discovery, learning about humanity and the passage of time.
