Exciting Developments in the Smallville Revival

Fans of the beloved series Smallville have eagerly awaited news on an animated revival, and recent discussions have introduced a renewed sense of hope. Michael Rosenbaum, known for his role as Lex Luthor, shared some promising updates during his appearance at Comic Con Liverpool.

Development Progress

Rosenbaum revealed that preliminary work on the project has commenced. He stated, "We did some artwork and Al Gough and Miles Millar, who created Smallville, they're attached. Tom Welling and I wanna do it, but it’s gotta be the right time, when you pitch." The involvement of the original creators has excited long-time fans, as they were instrumental in shaping the series from the beginning.

Studio Approval Still Needed

Despite the enthusiasm from both cast and creators, some hurdles remain before the project can officially advance. Rosenbaum noted that studio interest is imperative for the revival to proceed. He remarked, "You have to make sure that the studio is wanting to do something like that right now," emphasizing the requirement for DC Studios' endorsement.

Continuing the Story of Clark Kent

The idea for a revival emerged in 2021, a decade after Smallville concluded in 2011. The animated continuation would see Welling returning to voice Clark Kent, bringing closure to the narrative that captivated fans for ten seasons. Welling echoed Rosenbaum's remarks, mentioning that they have an artist and a poster but await the necessary green light from DC.

The creative team is enthusiastic and prepared to take the next steps. With the original cast eager to reprise their roles, the Smallville revival appears to be a work in progress. The fate now lies in the hands of DC Studios, as fans hope for a return to the iconic world of Smallville.
