Naver Webtoon has announced the arrival of the New Edition of Takehiko Inoue's iconic series, Slam Dunk, digitally in Korea, starting August 29. This marks the first time the beloved manga is available online in the country. It was initially released digitally in Japan back in June.

The New Edition consists of 20 volumes, a restructuring of the original 31-volume series, designed to enhance narrative pacing while maintaining the core story. Inoue has crafted all-new, full-color covers to accompany the re-release.

Fans will have access to this limited-time offering on Naver Webtoon for two months, while Naver Series will provide the complete set of volumes.

Since its serialization from 1990 to 1996, Slam Dunk has significantly influenced basketball culture in Japan and has achieved sales of over 170 million copies worldwide. The manga also spawned a successful anime series in 1993 and has been adapted into four animated films.

Most recently, it inspired The First Slam Dunk, animated by Inoue at Toei Animation, which premiered in Japan in December 2022 and began streaming on Netflix in the U.S. in August 2024.
