The production team behind Chinmoku no Kantai Hokkyoku-kai dai kaisen (The Silent Service: The Battle of the Arctic Ocean) recently shared an exciting new trailer. This sequel film builds on the live-action adaptation of Kaiji Kawaguchi's The Silent Service manga. Ado’s captivating theme song, Kaze to Watashi no Monogatari (The Tale of The Wind and I), features prominently in the trailer.

Set to release on September 26, the film is directed by Kōhei Yoshino and scripted by Hikaru Takai. Key returning cast members include Yoshi Sakō, Yui Natsukawa, and Takashi Sasano, alongside new additions like Kenjirō Tsuda and Jun Fubuki.

The film's narrative continues the story of Shiro Kaieda, Japan's first nuclear submarine captain, navigating complex themes like nuclear warfare and international relations. Previously, the series’ teaser ended on a powerful note, promising much for fans of the story.

Following the release of the first film, which garnered significant box office success, the franchise continues its exploration of political dynamics within the anime medium. The previous film opened with notable earnings, setting a robust backdrop for its sequel.

For fans awaiting more, the sequel series Chinmoku no Kantai Season 1: Tokyowan Daikaisen premiered its first episodes on Amazon Prime in February 2024. The initial episodes focus on previously unaired content, while later episodes delve deeper into the overarching narrative.
