Schwarzenegger's Possible Comeback in Predator: Badlands
Predator: Badlands director hints at future Arnold Schwarzenegger cameo.
Director Dan Trachtenberg has opened up about the potential of seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger reprise his iconic role as Dutch in "Predator: Badlands." Though Arnold has frequently joined the "Terminator" series, he hasn't returned to the Predator franchise since the original film in 1987.
In the animated sequel, "Predator: Killer of Killers," Dutch is revealed to be in stasis, which paves the way for his character's return. Trachtenberg confirmed that he has discussed with Schwarzenegger, noting that both are excited about future storytelling possibilities.
He shared, "I met Arnold, and he said, 'You’d think I get, 'I’ll be back,' yelled at me most, but it’s actually, 'Get to the chopper!'" This indicates that Schwarzenegger is keenly aware of the franchise's ongoing popularity.
Dan teased that there is a rich narrative to explore, including how Dutch and Naru were captured or what happens upon their awakening from stasis.
Additionally, while fans have speculated about a crossover with the Alien franchise, specifically a Xenomorph's appearance in the film, Trachtenberg clarified, "There’s no Xenomorph in this movie." He emphasized the film's focus on an original story, stating, "There are great, organic story reasons for Weyland-Yutani to be in this film," referring to the presence of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation in the plot.
In "Predator: Badlands," which stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, viewers follow a young Predator who finds unexpected companionship with an android named Thia and embarks on a dangerous journey against formidable foes. The film promises to deliver fresh narratives in the beloved franchise while keeping fans eager for what's next.
Scheduled for release on November 7, "Predator: Badlands" will be available in various premium formats including IMAX and Dolby Cinema.
