New Manga Announcement

In a press release by Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion, it was announced that veteran mangaka Masami Kurumada will launch a brand new series titled Saint Seiya Tenkai-hen (Saint Seiya: The Heavens Arc) on May 14.

This upcoming series is touted as the official sequel to both the original Saint Seiya and the Saint Seiya: Next Dimension - The Myth of Hades manga.

Details of the Release

The 24th issue of Weekly Shōnen Champion will feature this launch, which also includes the third installment of Kurumada's ongoing series, Saint Seiya Then III: Ketsui (Resolution). Much like its predecessors, this manga installment will have eight pages in full color.

The Story So Far

The Saint Seiya Tenkai-hen series follows the narrative established in the 2004 Saint Seiya Tenkai-hen Jōsō Overture film, which serves as the official continuation of the Next Dimension storyline. Previous installments, Saint Seiya Then: Haikyo no Hana (Flowers of Ruin) and Saint Seiya Then II: Shimei (Mission), were also sequels to Next Dimension and were published in prior issues of Weekly Shōnen Champion and Champion RED.

A Legacy Continues

Masami Kurumada first introduced fans to the Saint Seiya universe back in 1986, and over the years, it has inspired numerous adaptations, including anime series, films, and spinoff stories, accumulating over 35 million copies in print.

Additionally, Viz Media has published the original manga under the title Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac, while the CG anime remake, Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya, debuted globally in July 2019.

As fans await the release of Saint Seiya Tenkai-hen, Kurumada's continued commitment to expanding this beloved franchise is a testament to its lasting appeal.

Stay tuned for updates as the release date approaches and get ready to dive back into the world of Saint Seiya!
