Director Ryan Coogler Returns to Wakanda

Following the success of his recent vampire film Sinners, director Ryan Coogler has confirmed that his next project will be Black Panther 3, returning him to the Marvel cinematic universe. During a panel at Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles, Coogler shared that this sequel is currently in development and is his immediate focus.

“If it was anybody but you, I would say, ‘I can neither confirm or deny,’” teased Coogler. “But we’re working on it hard. … Yeah, it’s the next movie.”

A Tribute to Chadwick Boseman

The Black Panther saga began with Chadwick Boseman's iconic portrayal of T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War (2016) and continued with the groundbreaking Black Panther film in 2018. Following Boseman's tragic passing in August 2020 from colon cancer, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) was released as a heartfelt tribute, shifting the spotlight to Letitia Wright’s character, Shuri, after T’Challa's death.

Denzel Washington's Potential Involvement

Excitingly, Academy Award winner Denzel Washington recently hinted at a possible role in the upcoming sequel. While promoting Gladiator II in Australia, Washington mentioned that Coogler was “writing a part for me,” although no official casting announcements have been made yet.

Looking Ahead

While details about the cast remain sparse, fans can expect more updates soon as Coogler continues to develop this highly anticipated installment in the Black Panther franchise.
