Update on Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc

The latest issue of Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine has announced that the Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc manga, written by Nobuhiro Watsuki and Kaoru Kurosaki, will be taking a break until the March 2026 issue.

This series resumed serialization on September 4 after a brief hiatus in August. Previously, it had stopped publication following Watsuki's health concerns and a lengthy break since June 2024. Watsuki's health issues have continued to impact the manga's schedule.

Background of the Manga

Originally launched in September 2017, the Hokkaido Arc manga marked a continuation of the classic Rurouni Kenshin series, which features the life of Kenshin Himura, a former assassin seeking redemption. This beloved franchise has captured the hearts of fans worldwide and has been adapted into various media, including a popular anime series and numerous films.

Past Hiatus and Health Concerns

The manga previously paused in December 2017 after controversial legal issues involving Watsuki. It resumed in June 2018, continuing to captivate audiences despite these challenges. While Viz Media initially published the English version, they halted releases during the earlier hiatus.

Anticipated Return

Fans can expect the Hokkaido Arc to return in the March issue, continuing the rich narrative of a character striving for peace amidst a tumultuous past. As always, updates will follow for the intrigued audience.
