Renowned Manga Creator Shōhei Harumoto Passes Away
Manga creator Shōhei Harumoto, known for his Kirin motorcycle series, has died.
In a heartfelt announcement, Young King magazine revealed the passing of Shōhei Harumoto on July 27. The acclaimed creator had been recovering from an illness at the time of his death. Known for his significant contributions to the manga world, Harumoto was currently serializing "Crazy Blood Line Now," a story about a woman and her motorcycle, which began publication in Young King in 2020.
Harumoto's journey in manga dates back to 1987 when he launched "Kirin," a motorcycle racing series featured in Motor Magazine's Mr. Bike BG. This series later transitioned to Shonengahosha's Young King magazine, with the original manga concluding in 2010 and its spinoff, "Kirin: The Happy Ridder Speedway," wrapping up in 2016. The original "Kirin" series made a notable mark, even inspiring a live-action film in 2012.
While Harumoto's works continue to inspire fans, future updates regarding his current series in Young King are expected to be revealed.
