Prime Video Purging Evangelion Rebuild Films and More

Prime Video is removing the Evangelion Rebuild films and Children of the Sea soon.

Prime Video is quietly clearing shelf space, and anime fans should take note: five films are headed for removal in the coming weeks, with a maximum of 30 days left to watch them.

The departing titles include Children of the Sea and all four installments of the Rebuild of Evangelion series—Evangelion: 1.11 – You Are (Not) Alone, Evangelion: 2.22 – You Can (Not) Advance, Evangelion: 3.33 – You Can (Not) Redo, and Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 – Thrice Upon a Time. The streaming service has not yet announced specific removal dates, only that the window is closing within the month.

For longtime fans of Hideaki Anno's divisive franchise, this represents another shift in where the films live online. The Rebuild tetralogy—a reimagining of the original Neon Genesis Evangelion series that spans from 2007 to 2021—has bounced between platforms over the years, and its availability on Prime Video was never guaranteed to be permanent. Children of the Sea, Daisuke Omori's visually stunning but narratively cryptic 2019 film, faces a similar fate.

The lack of specific dates is frustrating for anyone planning to revisit these titles. Streaming removals often happen quietly, with services offering only vague windows rather than pinpoint deadlines. If you've been meaning to finally sit through the Rebuild films or catch Children of the Sea, the clock is ticking—and waiting until the last minute risks finding the films already gone.
