In a significant update to the Pokémon franchise, Mega Evolution returns in Pokémon Legends: Z-A with a twist. Unlike traditional core games, where only one Pokémon can Mega Evolve per battle, Ign's recent hands-on report showcases that players can trigger Mega Evolution multiple times during a single match.

During gameplay, participants discovered they could evolve all three of their Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution, provided they gather enough Mega Power. The Mega Ring icon at the bottom right of the screen reflects the player's current Mega Power level. This power accumulates through attacks, collecting Mega Power orbs dropped by defeated Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon, and smashing specific crystals scattered around the city.

While it remains unverified whether multiple Mega Evolutions are feasible in trainer battles, IGN's public relations representative confirmed that players are not restricted to just one Mega Evolution, as long as they possess both the Mega Stone and adequate Mega Power. Additionally, it's been confirmed that the same Pokémon can Mega Evolve repeatedly, as long as the player maintains sufficient Mega Power.
