Pokémon Legends: Z-A is generating buzz ahead of its release next month with the announcement of its first DLC, featuring the popular Mega Raichu. A teaser trailer showcased during the recent Nintendo Direct highlighted two distinct Mega Evolutions, Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y, each adorned with unique designs involving lightning bolt tails and antler features.

While specific details about the additional story content remain scarce, it is clear that players will have the ability to Mega Evolve their own Raichu. Notably, the dimension-traveling Pokémon Hoopa also makes an appearance in the teaser.

Pre-orders for the expansion are available now on the Nintendo eShop, offering exclusive apparel items for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, unlocking upon the game's release on October 16, 2025. Full access to the expansion’s story content is set for a later date.

Raichu joins an impressive lineup of Mega Evolutions confirmed for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which includes Dragonite, Malamar, and Victreebel. Fans can anticipate further Mega Evolutions as recent trailers revealed new forms for Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja.

The Nintendo Direct also unveiled plenty of other exciting news, including updates on beloved franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Fire Emblem, as well as a first look at Pokémon Pokopia, a life simulation spin-off akin to Animal Crossing.
