Exciting New Anime "Oedo Fire Slayer -The Legend of Phoenix-" Set for January 2026 Release

Amuse Creative Studio has officially announced the main cast and the premiere date for "Oedo Fire Slayer -The Legend of Phoenix-," an anime adaptation of the first volume of Shōgo Imamura's historical novel series "Ushūboro Tobigumi." Scheduled to debut in January 2026, the series is generating excitement with its engaging storyline and talented voice actors.

The narrative follows Matsunaga Gengo, a disgraced fire-fighting samurai once known as the "Fire-eating Bird." After stepping away from his position in the fire brigade, Gengo faces a new challenge when he is invited to restore the beleaguered fire-fighting team of the Shinjo clan, which suffers from underfunding and low morale. With the support of his wife, Miyuki, Gengo takes on the daunting task of rebuilding the team, composed of quirky characters, as they navigate a series of suspicious fires dubbed "foxfires."

The cast features prominent voice actors, with Yūichirō Umehara voicing Gengo Matsunaga, Shūichirō Umeda as vice-president Shinnosuke Torigoe, and Nobunaga Shimazaki as the charming artisan Hikoya, among others. This ensemble aims to bring depth and personality to a gripping tale of camaraderie and resilience.

Synergy SP will handle the animation production, ensuring high-quality visuals that complement the thrilling storyline. Originally launched in 2017, Imamura's "Ushūboro Tobigumi" series has won accolades, including the sixth Yoshikawa Eiji Bunko Award in 2021, and has inspired a manga adaptation that recently debuted in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion.

Fans can look forward to this visually stunning and emotionally rich anime as it debuts in early 2026.
