Oded Fehr Discusses Possible Role in Upcoming Mummy Sequel

Oded Fehr, known for his role as Ardeth Bay in The Mummy, recently spoke about the possibility of reprising his iconic character in a potential Mummy 4. This comes as news unfolds about Universal Pictures negotiating with stars Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz to continue the beloved franchise that began in 1999.

Update on The Mummy Franchise

The upcoming project is set to be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, with a script penned by David Coggeshall. Producers include franchise veteran Sean Daniel along with team members from Project X Entertainment.

Whispers of Dwayne Johnson’s return as The Scorpion King have surfaced, but fans are particularly eager to see if Fehr will join the new cast, which is still missing key figures from the original films.

Fehr's Excitement and Hopes

In an interview, Fehr expressed his enthusiasm about possibly returning:

"I've heard many things from a lot of people. I have not been officially approached, but I'm assuming it's going to happen, and I'm probably as excited as you are about it."

He acknowledged the Mummy franchise's significant impact on his career and mentioned:

"Big responsibility to try and make a movie that the fans will love as much as the first two... the franchise still holds up wonderfully."

A Look at Fehr’s Other Projects

Additionally, Fehr is currently involved in the Star Trek franchise, having reprised his role from Star Trek: Discovery. He expressed appreciation for being brought back for multiple projects, highlighting the exciting changes in tone for the upcoming series, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.

The Legacy of The Mummy Films

Oded Fehr starred alongside Fraser and Weisz in the original Mummy films, which saw massive box office success, grossing over $400 million each worldwide. The franchise also inspired theme park attractions and a spin-off series. While the 2008 installment, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, was not a critical success, it still performed well financially.
