Nick Dragotta's Vision: Anime Adaptation of Absolute Batman
Nick Dragotta envisions an anime adaptation of Absolute Batman.
Nick Dragotta's Aspiration for Absolute Batman Anime
Nick Dragotta, known for his work on the Absolute Batman comic series, has expressed a strong desire to see the acclaimed Japanese animation studio Studio Trigger adapt his work into an anime. The series, which debuted last year, introduces a new version of Batman—one that is less affluent and a 24-year-old engineer in Gotham City.
Anime Potential and Discussion
During an AMA session on League of Comic Geeks, Dragotta and writer Scott Snyder discussed their visions for expanding the Absolute Universe. Despite not having direct communications with DC Studios or co-CEO James Gunn, Dragotta encouraged fans to explore upcoming Inart and LPZZ toys showcased at Wonderfest in Shanghai, hinting at future developments.
When the conversation turned to animation, Dragotta conveyed his excitement about the potential for a Studio Trigger adaptation, stating:
“I’m not in the know, but I know DC makes and licenses quality stuff so I’m excited to see what comes. Personally, I’d love to see a Studio Trigger anime of Ab Bat.”
Studio Trigger's Impressive Track Record
Studio Trigger, celebrated for popular works like Kill la Kill and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, has gained a reputation for delivering high-quality animation experiences. The success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has even led to a sequel, indicating that the studio continues to push boundaries in the anime space.
Caution for Fans
While the idea of an Absolute Batman anime is tantalizing, it’s important to note that, as Dragotta has mentioned, he is not involved in the licensing discussions at DC. This means that while the vision exists, fans should temper their expectations.
