Crunchyroll reports that the beloved anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, directed by Hideaki Anno, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with a new album titled EVANGELION FLASHBACK, set to release on October 29. This album will feature 15 tracks, including iconic pieces such as "Cruel Angel's Thesis" and the theme from Death and Rebirth, "Soul's Refrain." Notably, the album will also include a fresh cover of "Kyo no hi wa sayonara," originally performed by Ryoko Moriyama in 1967.

The anniversary doesn’t end there; two special LPs will follow on February 21, 2026, showcasing "Cruel Angel's Thesis" and "Soul's Refrain," with additional tracks from EVANGELION FLASHBACK spread across these releases. A unique portable record player will also be launched on the same day, further celebrating this milestone.

Since its debut in October 1995, Neon Genesis Evangelion has made a lasting impact on the anime landscape, exploring profound themes through the lens of its young pilot, Shinji Ikari, as humanity confronts mysterious beings called "Angels." The anniversary celebrations highlight not only nostalgia for fans but also the series' ongoing cultural significance.
