The production team behind "My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's" has unveiled an intriguing trailer dedicated to Yoru, the mysterious cat that accompanies the main character, Akira Oda. Scheduled for release in October 2025, the anime will air on channels such as TV Tokyo, BS Fuji, and Animax, with Crunchyroll handling global streaming rights outside of Asia.
Directed by Nobuyoshi Habara, known for works like "Fafner" and "Space Battleship Yamato 2202," this adaptation promises to captivate viewers through both its compelling narrative and stunning visuals. The script is penned by Kunihiko Okada, while character design is managed by Hirona Okada and Kaori Saito. The music score, crafted by Satoshi Igarashi, will complement the opening theme “Issen,” performed by the virtual duo VESPERBELL.
The story follows Akira Oda, a reserved student transported to a fantasy realm where he is assigned the assassin class, granting him superior abilities. Alongside the elf medium Amelia, Akira embarks on a journey of vengeance against the king who summoned him, unraveling dark secrets within the kingdom. First published as a web novel in 2017, Matsuri Akai’s work transitioned into both a manga adaptation in 2018 and a physical light novel series, which continues to make waves in the fantasy genre.
