BioWare Confirms New Mass Effect Game is in Development

BioWare’s executive producer for Mass Effect, Mike Gamble, has reassured fans that the next installment in the beloved franchise is actively under development. In a recent blog post timed for N7 Day, Gamble stated, "Let’s start by setting the record straight: the next Mass Effect game is in development, and Electronic Arts and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe."

Development Insights

Gamble emphasized that the last few years have been particularly busy for the team at BioWare. However, he confirmed that the focus is now primarily on the upcoming Mass Effect game. "We have a lot of universe to cover, lots of features to build, and lots of romances to figure out. We’re excited by what we’re building..."

This means fans can expect new experiences and elements, pushing the boundaries of what the series is known for.

Upcoming Mass Effect TV Series

In addition to the game, Gamble touched on the ongoing development of a Mass Effect television series in collaboration with Amazon. He mentioned that the writers’ room is making significant progress and is shaping an entirely new storyline within the Mass Effect timeline.

Gamble stated, "The show will explore a brand-new story within the universe’s timeline, and will be set after the original trilogy. It won’t be a retread of Commander Shepard’s story—because after all… that’s YOUR story, isn’t it?"

Currently, there are no announcements regarding the release date or platforms for the new game. BioWare encourages fans to remain patient as developments unfold.
