Rumor: Actors up for a potential casting of Black Panther T'Challa
The mantle of Black Panther may soon have a new bearer, as Marvel Studios is rumored to be deep in the hunt for an actor to take up the claws and crown. While early speculation pointed toward a multiversal variant of T’Challa—echoing the role the late Chadwick Boseman made iconic—current chatter suggests the focus is on the original king’s son, Toussaint, introduced in the closing moments of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Reports indicate Marvel has approached multiple actors for the part, including Snowfall’s Damson Idris, though finding the right successor to Boseman’s legacy has proven a daunting task. Now, The Hot Mic’s Jeff Sneider claims the studio “knows who they want,” with his guess being Alien: Romulus breakout David Jonsson. Sneider emphasized he doesn’t have confirmation, but Jonsson’s name has surfaced before in connection with Marvel projects—and his recent performance has made him a sought-after talent across the industry.
If Jonsson does step into the role, he’d be inheriting one of the MCU’s most culturally significant mantles, with the added narrative weight of portraying T’Challa’s heir. Whether Black Panther 3 leans into political intrigue, Afrofuturist world-building, or a new era of superhero diplomacy, this casting could define the next chapter of Wakanda’s story—and set the tone for its place in the Multiverse Saga.
