Marvel Comics has kicked off the excitement by offering an early digital release of their latest crossover event, Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe, on the Marvel Unlimited platform. Fans were surprised when the first issue became available well before its anticipated launch date. Featuring the creative talents of writer Gerry Duggan and illustrator Javier Garrón, this series joins the storied history of crossovers between Godzilla and Marvel's beloved characters, quickly gaining recognition as one of the most popular entries.

Writer Gerry Duggan expressed his hopes that readers unfamiliar with either Godzilla or the X-Men would find the story appealing. "We're trying to be as inviting as I think we can, and I think we have been very, very successful... I felt I had an obligation to distill some of our characters down into their most recognizable states… The Avengers are there, the Fantastic Four are there," he said.

Vibranium plays a crucial role in this new series, particularly a unique variant with unstable molecules. The opening issue showcases Harvey Elder, known as the Mole Man, inadvertently awakening Godzilla from a long slumber using this specific type of Vibranium. As a result, he has unleashed a formidable threat that is challenging Earth's Mightiest Heroes and their allies.

Duggan elaborated that Black Panther quickly recognizes the unusual properties of this Vibranium and may need to devise a solution while other heroes engage in battle. The stakes are high, with Duggan noting the potential for Godzilla's presence to drastically impact the balance of life on Earth.

Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #1 is available in print and digitally through Marvel Unlimited.
