Distributor Shochiku has announced an exciting new project: the original anime film L’étoile de Paris en Fleur, slated for release on March 13, 2026, in Japan. This film is a collaboration between renowned director Goro Taniguchi, known for ONE PIECE FILM: RED, and character designer Katsuya Kondo, famous for his work on Kiki's Delivery Service.
The storyline follows two Japanese girls, Fujiko and Chizuru, as they chase their dreams amidst challenging circumstances in the early 1900s. The pair, who meet by chance in Yokohama, embark on a journey that ultimately leads them to Paris—a vibrant backdrop for their aspirations in painting and ballet. The teaser visual featuring the main character, Fujiko, has already been released, drawn by Kondo himself.
Fujiko will be voiced by Ami Toma, recognized for her role in the live-action series Chihayafuru: Full Circle and her character voiceover in Lonely Castle in the Mirror. With a talented team also featuring Yu Yamashita for character design and Reiko Yoshida handling the screenplay, anticipation is high among fans for this heartwarming tale.
