Fans Continue to Speculate About Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil: Requiem
Fans continue to speculate about Leon Kennedy's role in Requiem.
During an interview with Koshi Nakanishi and Masato Kumazawa, the director and producer of Resident Evil: Requiem, anticipation about Leon Kennedy’s presence in the game was met with laughter. Despite the recent Capcom Online Program showcase, which fans anticipated would reveal Leon as a playable character, he was notably absent from the new trailer. The preview build available at Tokyo Game Show also lacked any hint of Leon’s involvement.
Fans have been vocal, speculating about whether Leon may appear as a secondary playable protagonist alongside newcomer Grace Ashcroft. However, Nakanishi and Kumazawa dismissed these rumors, suggesting that Leon's action-heavy background may not fit the game’s tone. Still, the developers refrained from outright denying his inclusion, hinting at a continuation of fan interest.
When questioned about the potential distraction from promoting Grace as the main character, Kumazawa acknowledged the excitement but expressed no concern. They emphasized the importance of introducing new characters to the franchise, indicating that while Grace is a focus, the series will not completely abandon its history.
With speculation running high, it remains uncertain how Leon Kennedy's legacy will intertwine with the fresh narrative elements in Requiem. Further insights from this interview can provide a glimpse into the future direction of the Resident Evil series.
