The beloved romantic supernatural light novel "Kekkaishi no Ichirinka," authored by Kureha and published by Kadokawa since December 2021, is making its transition to the small screen with a new TV anime adaptation. Kadokawa revealed this exciting development on Tuesday, introducing the main staff associated with the project, including director Tooru Kitahata, known for his work on "Nihon e Youkoso Elf-san," and series composition by Yuuko Kakihara, notable for "Ao no Hako." Character design will be handled by Murayama Minami, acclaimed for prop designs in "Atri: My Dear Moments." The animation will be produced by TROYCA.

The novel series has resonated deeply with readers, amassing a total of 2 million copies in print across its volumes. The story follows eighteen-year-old Hana Ichise, a member of a family tasked with protecting Japan's crystal pillars using supernatural abilities. While overshadowed by her talented twin sister, Hana's life takes a turn when she discovers her own powers but decides to keep them hidden for the sake of completing her high school education. Complications arise when Saku Ichinomiya, the head of her family's primary branch, becomes enamored with her and presents her with a marriage contract, challenging her to embrace her potential.

In addition to the novel, Odayaka began illustrating a manga adaptation in B's-LOG Comic magazine in May 2020, further broadening the series' reach. Both the light novel and manga have been licensed for English release by J-Novel Club, enhancing their availability to an international audience. The fifth volume of the light novel series is anticipated to hit shelves in January 2026.

For fans eager to learn more, an official website has been launched, featuring the latest announcements about the anime adaptation.
