New 'Once Upon a Katamari' Game and 'Clémentine' Music Video Revealed
Bandai Namco Entertainment has released a vibrant new music video for Once Upon a Katamari, featuring the song "Clémentine" by composer Satoru Kōsaki of MONACA. The game's highly anticipated launch is set for Thursday, available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
Game Features
The upcoming installment includes:
- New Stages and Songs: Players can look forward to fresh environments and an engaging soundtrack.
- Classic Gameplay: Similar to previous titles, players will guide The Prince on a quest to restore the starry sky after the King of All Cosmos inadvertently destroys the Earth.
- Customization: Players can personalize The Prince and 68 cousins with various colors and facial features.
Competitive Multiplayer Mode
A noteworthy addition is the KatamariBall mode, supporting up to four players, where participants compete to roll the largest balls. This mode will be available for both online and offline play.
Special Edition
A Deluxe King of All Sounds edition will be released, featuring 60 songs and 26 costumes inspired by past titles.
Franchise Background
The original Katamari Damacy launched in 2004 for the PlayStation 2 and has spawned numerous sequels across multiple platforms, including mobile devices. In recent years, Bandai Namco has also released HD remasters and new iterations like Katamari Damacy Reroll and We Love Katamari Reroll+ Royal Reverie.
